The practical details

Good to know
before you start.

A few answers about the app, your data, and bringing in your trades.

Getting started

Is RiTrade free?

Yes. RiTrade is free to use. No online account needed.

Can I use it on a Mac or Linux?

The packaged app is available for Windows. There isn’t a supported Mac or Linux installer.

Can I try it before importing my trades?

Yes. You can load demo data to explore the dashboards first. The built-in guide explains imports, views, and individual metrics.

How do updates work?

RiTrade can check for new releases and show an update banner. Updates are checked for file integrity, and your data is backed up before installation. You can turn off automatic update checks in Settings.

Why might Windows show an installation warning?

Windows SmartScreen can warn about an unsigned or unfamiliar installer. Check the download source and publisher before deciding whether to proceed. A file integrity check does not replace code signing.

Your data

Does it work without an internet connection?

You can review imported trades, use dashboards, and import local files offline. Downloading the app, checking for updates, and fetching reports through a broker API need an internet connection.

Where is my trading history stored?

In a local database on your computer. RiTrade does not require you to upload your trading history to a hosted journal. Read how local storage and credentials work.

How do I back up my data?

Your database and backups are local files. RiTrade creates a data backup before an app update, but you should also keep your own backups. Use the built-in guide for the files and steps needed for your installed version.

Imports & review

Will it read my broker’s statements?

Support depends on both the provider and its export format. Check the brokers and formats page. For other CSV files, you can map columns and save a reusable template, provided the file contains the required trade information.

What if I import the same report twice?

RiTrade checks for duplicate executions during import. Review the preview before confirming, especially if you’ve changed the source file or its column mapping.

Can I change the dashboards?

Yes. Add, move, and resize tiles, then choose filters for each dashboard. You can also change the theme, tile settings, and text size.

Does RiTrade place trades or backtest strategies?

No. RiTrade helps you review trades you’ve already made. It does not send orders to a broker or run strategy backtests.
